God Loves You

frozen wave against sunlight

I will never forget the day I finally understood that God really loved me. I was 18, and always knew in my head that I was loved by God. Deep down though, I questioned that love. There was no way God loved me. It couldn’t be that simple. I was not worthy of such love. That perfect love was for the perfect people, the perfect Christians, not me.

The truth is, God’s perfect unconditional love is for all of us.

The moment I fully accepted the love my Heavenly Father had for me, I was changed. It’s a personal love, for He calls me by name. My name is written on the palms of His mighty hands.

“See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.” (Isaiah 49:16a, NLT)

God calls us sons and daughters. That means He is my Father.

“I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:18, NKJV)

God calls us His children.

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” (1 John 3:1, NKJV)

God loves us with an everlasting love.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.” (Jeremiah 31:3b, HCSB)

God’s love is faithful and true.

“But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger and rich in faithful love and truth.” (Psalm 86:15, HCSB)

God’s love will not end.

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.’ (Deuteronomy 7:9, NIV)

God loved us first.

“We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19, ESV)

God loves us so much that He gave us Jesus.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, ESV)

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, NKJV)

God rejoices over you with singing.

The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17, NKJV)

Nothing can seperate us from God’s love

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39, ESV)

Do you know how much God loves you? Maybe you’re like I was. You think it in your head, but it’s not in your heart. I pray today that changes for you. May you experience the love of God like never before. Let Him fill up your heart with the knowledge of His amazing love.

It is mind boggling to think about, and accept the love of a perfect God. Bask in it. Recieve this beautiful love from God, and praise Him for it. God loves you!

Love you all,

Meghan

Kid’s Stuff Podcast Interviewed Me!

Image Copyright DomNick Carrubba front c

So I wrote this kid’s book, Joey Flynn’s Extraordinary Tale. I don’t share it often. Honestly, I don’t like promoting myself. I’m just not comfortable with it. As an author you need to promote your work. I’ve been stretched in this area. There’s a link on my blog home page to my book, and I pretty much leave it at that. I know, that’s not great promotion. That’s awful promotion. I would much rather sit down and talk with you in person and tell you exactly why I wrote this story.

I got the chance to do just that when Kid’s Stuff Podcast reached out to me asking to do an interview. What an exciting opportunity for a little unknown author like me. I jumped at the chance. This is my first interview ever for my book. Kid’s Stuff is an award-winning, kid friendly podcast run by Gale and his thirteen-year-old son Owen. These guys are so kind and easy to talk to.

Owen read my book before the interview, and I am pleased to announce that he loved it! This is a huge stamp of approval that I humbly accept as a gift. I love getting feedback, but especially from kids. I wrote this book for kids first, so their opinions mean everything to me. Owen had some great questions for me specifically related to the story. It was fun to answer those.

Owen also asked me the meaning behind John 15:5, that I write on signed copies. Great question, but this didn’t make the final edit which is fine, since there wasn’t room for everything. I love that verse because it reminds me what I can accomplish without Christ, nothing. I can do nothing apart from the vine, Jesus. At least nothing that really matters. He is the vine and I am just a branch. When God asked me to write this book I needed to rely on Him to complete this huge task. That’s why I add that verse to signed copies.

Our recording lasted over an hour, but Gale had to edit it down to thirty minutes since that is the maximum allowed for their podcast. He did an excellent job editing all that and squeezing in the pertinent book and author information. Owen and Gale are kind, lovely people. And bonus, they are Christ Followers too. Pretty cool for us to have that in common. Please check out their podcast. They have all sorts of fun, educational topics that of course, are kid friendly.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you will be able to listen to my interview where you can hear why I wrote this book and the message God gave me for kids. Thank you for your support!

Love you all,

Meghan

Fun Summer Read for Middle Grade ~ Free Kindle Book 6/20 – 6/24

Image Copyright DomNick Carrubba front c

It’s my privilege to share Joey Flynn’s Extraordinary Tale with you! This book is my labor of love. I poured myself into writing this story to give the kids in your life a fun, faith-filled, adventurous book. Check out my post Why Did I Write A Children’s Book?  to find out what drove me to write in the first place.

Here are a few fun facts about my book:

~Joey Flynn is my two boys middle names together, Dylan Joseph and Joshua Flynn.

~Most of the character’s names are family names. Joey’s little sister Theadora, is my mom’s name Dorothea backwards. Leo, Joey’s friend, is my dad’s name.

~My main influence for Joey was my two boys. When I started writing, Dylan was eleven. When I completed the story, Joshua was eleven. That was not planned.

~The fictional town of Argyle, Oregon is based on several small towns. Sandy and Corbett, Oregon, and Rosenberg, Texas were some of my inspirations. I have spent a lot of time in small towns, and wanted to incorporate the uniqueness and charm of small town America.

~The silhouette on the cover is my oldest son’s head. He does not like it, so he was a good sport to allow me to have his head on my cover.

~The beautiful cover was created by talented artist and friend, Nick Carrubba. He made it personal for me and had me take pictures around my house for ideas. I absolutely had to have a teal cover, since its a favorite color. And I knew I wanted a black silhouette to represent Joey. Nick took my ideas (and strong opinions) and gave me this gorgeous cover!

Please get your free copy today! Read it and share it with a child in your life. If you would like to leave a review I would greatly appreciate it. If you don’t, just enjoy the story and pass it along to another family. My hearts desire from the beginning of the writing process until now is the same; that Joey Flynn’s Extraordinary Tale blesses and encourages each reader, whether a child or an adult.

Thanks for stopping by! I am grateful for each of you.

Love you all,

Meghan
