Cream Cheese Pound Cake

dsc00402

This is my favorite pound cake. It’s delicious and easy. I found this scrumptious dessert years ago in Southern Living magazine. I get asked for this recipe every time I make it. I shared this pound cake when I first started writing for Mustard Seed Sentinel, and wanted to share it again with new followers.

Enjoy this delightful sweet treat. Life is short. Have a piece of cake.

Happy Eating!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups butter, softened

1 (8oz.) package cream cheese, softened

3 cups sugar

6 large eggs

1 ½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract

3 cups all purpose flour

⅛ teaspoon salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 300°

2. Beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer for 2 minutes or until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating until mixture is light and fluffy.

3. Add eggs one at a time, beating until combined. Add vanilla extract, beat until blended.

4. Combine flour and salt in a small bowl; gradually add to butter mixture, beating at low speed just until blended after each addition. Don’t over mix.

5. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch bundt pan or tube pan.

6. Bake for 1 hour and 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove from pan, and let cool completely for about an hour.

Notes:

~I prefer to use three loaf pans. Cooking time drops to approximately 1 hour 5 minutes when using loaf pans. You can freeze the loaves. Thaw before serving.

~Reduce the sugar to 2 ½ cups or 2 ¾  if 3 cups is too sweet. It still comes out yummy.

  1. I love this food dish; it looks to be very tasty. Conerning Southern Living Magazine, I saw a very nice house in southern SC, and noticed that it had been featured in Southern Living. I don’t know when I saw that magazine the last time, but it was very nice.

    1. I bet that house is gorgeous if it was featured in Southern Living. I never subscribed and I haven’t seen an issue in years, but I remember everything looking so beautiful and inviting.
The pound cake is fantastic! Thanks for your comment. Have a wonderful day.

      1. It was on Spring Island, S.C. , in the southwestern part of the state. I used to inspect such homes for insurance companies, where I would have to draw them, and put them to scale on a plat. I’m glad that you have such a good dessert.

    1. I’m sorry for sending you back out to the store. 😂 I hate when that happens. You won’t be disappointed though. It’s worth the trip and the time to make the cake. Enjoy! Blessings to you!

    1. Thank you Colleen!! I was not happy with any of the pics. It is very difficult for me to get good shots of food. I need some of that fake food that photographers use. 😂

      1. Haha! The picture looks like it could be on a magazine, so it’s funny you were not happy with any of them. But I understand. I have a hard time getting good pictures too and might update some of them for past recipes at some point.

  2. The picture is fantastic, Meghan. You did a wonderful job. Very tempting with all the fruit beside the cake. Have you ever tried pound cake with pie filling on it? YUM! Sure hope this pound cake shows up on the table at the great banquet in heaven. It does look heavenly. 🙂

This also looks like something my readers would enjoy. If you have time and want it featured in my monthly newsletter, please email the recipe and picture to me. I plan to try it too. And Arnie LOVES pound cake.

I have not had pie filling on pound cake. I’m sure it’s really good.
Sure I’ll send it to you. I hope you do make the cake. Your husband will love it.
